General Infomation - IWNA 2015
The 5th International Workshop on Nanotechnology and Application -  IWNA 2015

About IWNA 2015

Eight years ago, the First International Workshop on Nanotechnology and Application 2007 (IWNA 2007) was held on November 2007 in Vung Tau, Vietnam. Following the First one, the Second, the Third and the Forth Workshop (IWNA 2009, IWNA 2011, IWNA 2013) were also organized successfully. The Workshops have attracted many scientists coming from various Universities, Institutes, Laboratories and Companies all over the world. For each IWNA, there were about 300 participants (including 100 foreigners from 20 countries) with 200-250 papers covering almost every aspect in nanotechnology, varying from fundamental research, nanomaterials synthesis, processing to nanofabrication of nanodevices and their applications in life science. In IWNA 2013, there were 35 manuscripts submitted by the participants to the International Journal of Nanotechnology (IJNT) and 15 manuscripts submitted to the electronic journal Advances in Natural Sciences: Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ANSN) jointly published by IOP Publishing (UK) and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST).

Continuing the success of three Workshops, this year the IWNA 2015 will be held on November 11-14, 2015 in Vung Tau. The IWNA 2015 is jointly organized by Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) / Laboratory for Nanotechnology (LNT) and MINATEC (France). It receives the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Department of Science and Technology - Ho Chi Minh City and other organizations.

The IWNA 2015 will hopefully open an opportunity for international & national scientists to exchange knowledge on various aspects of nanotechnology. Moreover, the broad network for international collaboration in research and education on nanotechnology may be established as the productive results of the Workshop. In addition, as a satellite activity of the Workshop, the Forum on Business opportunities of Micro-Nanotechnology industry in Vietnam will be organized to provide a chance for scientists, researchers and business community to exchange business opportunities in Micro-Nanotechnology in Vietnam.

In conjunction with IWNA 2015, the Annual School on Micro-Nanotechnology (MINATEC 2015) will be held in Ho Chi Minh City on November 09-11, 2015. This School is co-organized by MINATEC (France) and LNT (Vietnam), and offers various lectures on micro-nanotechnology and discussion about new recent issues in nanotechnology.

Workshop Topics:

1. Fundamentals of Nanotechnology (FON)
This track covers the theoretical and computational nanoscience and nanotechnology in physics, chemistry, materials science, engineering, biology, simulations ranging from molecular dynamic of several particles to even larger scale calculations. Papers presenting theoretical advances in nanochemistry, nanofluidics and nanobiotechnology will also be considered for inclusion.

2. Nanofabrication Techniques (NFT)
Progress in conventional techniques for nanofabrication of materials and devices, as well as novel and innovative ones, are still highly needed for further enabling applications relying on nanoscale systems and functions. The focus is put on nanolithography, nanoimprinting, inkjet printing, edge lithography, focused ion beam etching, self assembly, nano thin film and packaging, but contributions are not limited to these techniques.

3. Nanomaterials and Nanodevices (NMD)
In this track, call is made for papers related to all kinds of nanomaterials and nanodevices, including carbon nanotubes, nano thin films, nanowires, nanomagnetics, nanofluidics, nanocantilevers, nanomembranes, etc. Special attention is given to nanodevices used for drug delivery, energy harvesting and environmental monitoring.

4. Applications of Micro-Nanotechnology (AMN)
The applications of nanomaterials and nanodevices are continuously expanding. The presentation of new applications in this area is of high interest. Refinement in existing application areas is also of interest including in nanomedicine, energy, environmental monitoring or agriculture. Special attention is given to applications in the areas of healthcare, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) based systems, thin film or emerging solar cell technologies.

Publication:

Papers presented at the Workshop will be printed in a Proceeding and a CD. The proceedings and CD will be provided to the attendants at the Workshop. Selected papers will be refereed for publication in the International Journal of Nanotechnology of the Inderscience Publisher (Switzerland) (IF 2013 = 1.144) and in the electronic journal Advances in Natural Sciences: Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ANSN) jointly published by IOP Publishing (UK) and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST).
