Project 4.

Title: Building microfluidics setup for liquid/ blood filtration

Group: Environmental Sensors

Short description/Objectives:

Our group is developing microfluidics setup for liquid/blood filtration. We need to develop holder system for micro-membrane and liquid handling tools (including pump, valves, piping...) for testing liquid filtration through micro-membrane.

Therefore, we are looking for 1 candidate to perform this task. The candidate should have good practical skills on mechanical and electronic technology.

Project 5.

Title: RFID reader middleware programming and application of food management in supermarket (1-2 students)

After the first project about fabrication of UHF RFID tags, LNT had already demonstrated 2 applications based on RFID technology. One of them is the RFID-based barrier and the system includes the hardware, controller circuits and interface software has been executed properly.

So far, LNT want to develop a commercial product from this system. The last task is to implant the solutions for authorization between software/hardware which can satisfy the objectives:

- Software should be checked and activated anytime that the system is started.

- Each software module just can operate with only 1 hardware system and vice versa.

The trainee will program the RFID readers (hand-held and professional reader) of the available programmed interface at laboratory to improve the stability and to develop the capabilities of the various readers by an RFID middleware.

The 2 required tasks for this topics are the improvement of:

- The authorization solution for hardware/software of commercial RFID barrier application.

- The improvement of RFID middleware to flexible communication with different types of RFID reader.

Project 6.

Title: Application of Wireless Sensor Network for automated system in agriculture (1-2 students)

The idea is to create an automated system to gather the info from environment and connect with a system to control the factor (temperature, salinity, pH, Dissolved oxygen...) in real time. The ultimate goal is that we can reduce the time for handling the monitoring of environmental factor and stabilize the environment in the shrimp or fruit fields. A semi-automated and pre-processing for the precision agriculture with low-cost for farmers in Mekong Delta of Vietnam is the expectation of this project. The first step is to program the flexible middleware to connect different types of commercial sensor and demonstration a application of environmental monitoring.

Skills requirement: embedded programming for micro-controller and electronic circuit design by C++ or C#, communication with group by English
