The 4th International Workshop on Nanotechnology and Application - IWNA 2013

August 08th, 2013

Dear Sir/Madam,

Nanotechnology has been recognized as a strong technology innovation driver and a strategic technology for the world’s economy. Nanotechnology is expected to impact upon virtually every branch of science and engineering as an “enabling” or “key” technology, especially upon medicine and health, information technology, energy production and storage, transportation, vehicles and infrastructure, materials science, food, water and environment, instruments, security etc. To promote further development and broad applications of nanotechnology, extensive activities to establish domestic and international research collaboration, exchange of researchers and technology transfer to industry are very important and thus these activities must be organized frequently.

Recognizing the importance of the nanotechnology promotion activities, Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) has cooperated with MINATEC (France), Ministry of Science and Technology, Saigon High Tech Park and Vietnamese Academy of Science and Technology, etc. to organize the International Workshop on Nanotechnology and Applications (IWNA). The Workshop is held on the second week of November once every 2 odd-numbered years in Vung Tau to enhance scientific communication and to promote the joint research activities on nanotechnology. The aim of the Workshop is to provide an open specialized forum for domestic and international researchers, engineers and companies who are interested in nanotechnology and its applications to exchange up-to-date scientific information, experiences and collaborate in research, education.

The first Workshop (IWNA 2007) was held successfully on November 2007 in Vung Tau, a beautiful resort city of Vietnam. The first Workshop attracted the interests of about 230 academic researchers and industrial experts (with 60 foreigners from 15 countries) coming from many universities, institutes, laboratories and companies around the world. This workshop offered fruitful discussions and more specific focus on nanotechnology applications. A total of 195 papers were presented. 9 papers were published in the Journal of Experimental Nanoscience (JEN) of the Taylor & Francis Publisher, England. 40 papers were published in Volume 1 No. 1 and No. 2 of the electronic journal Advances in Natural Sciences: Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ANSN) jointly published by IOP Publishing (UK) and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST).

Following the first one, the second IWNA (IWNA 2009) was held on November 12 - 14, 2009 in Vung Tau, Vietnam. The Workshop attracted 250 participants (including 45 foreigners from 19 countries) coming from many universities, institutes, laboratories and companies. The Workshop was highlighted by 03 plenary sessions and 18 parallel sessions. 210 papers were presented, covering the important issues in nanotechnology, ranging from fundamental research, nanomaterials and processing to nanofabrication and applications of nanodevices. There were 41 selected papers submitted to publish in the Journal of Experimental Nanoscience (JEN) and 47 selected papers submitted to publish in the electronic journal Advances in Natural Sciences: Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ANSN).

The third Workshop IWNA 2011 was held on November 10-12, 2011 in Vung Tau. There were 280 participants (with 100 foreigners from 22 countries), coming from various universities, institutes, laboratories and companies all over the world. 260 papers were presented, covering almost every aspect in nanotechnology, varying from fundamental research, nanomaterials synthesis, processing to nanofabrication of nanodevices and their applications in life science. There were 35 manuscripts submitted to the International Journal of Nanotechnology (IJNT) and about 40 manuscripts submitted to the electronic journal Advances in Natural Sciences: Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ANSN).

Continuing the success of the previous three international Workshops (IWNA 2007, IWNA 2009 & IWNA 2011), this year the IWNA 2013 will be held on November 14-16, 2013 in Vung Tau. The IWNA 2013 will hopefully open an opportunity for international & national scientists to exchange knowledge on various aspects of nanotechnology. Moreover, the broad network for international collaboration in research and education on nanotechnology may be established as the productive results of the Workshop. In addition, as a satellite activity of the Workshop, the Forum on Business opportunities of Micro-Nanotechnology industry in Vietnam will be organized to provide a chance for scientists, researchers and business community to exchange business opportunities in micro-nanotechnology in Vietnam.

In conjunction with IWNA 2013, the Annual School on Micro-Nanotechnology (MINATEC 2013) will be held in Ho Chi Minh City on November 11-13, 2013. This School is co-organized by MINATEC (France) and LNT (Vietnam) and offers various lectures on micro-nanotechnology and discussion about new recent issues in nanotechnology.

Therefore we suppose that participating in IWNA 2013 will bring an excellent opportunity for your company to be updated about recent breakthrough and development on the Nanotechnology field. Moreover, it will be also a great chance to introduce and promote your company’s products and technology to customers from international and domestic organizations. Hence, on behalf of the Organizing Committee, we would like to invite you to participate and co-sponsor for the IWNA 2013 Workshop. The sponsorship will guarantee your company with excellent marketing and business opportunities to:

·         Exhibit your new products and services,

·         Conduct related marketing research & provide product demonstrations,

·         Approach influential decision makers,

·         Interact and establish face-to-face network with leading nanotechnology professionals in Vietnam and worldwide,

·         Attend “The Forum on Business Opportunities of Micro-Nanotechnology Industry in Vietnam” organized in the scope of IWNA 2013.

We are looking forward to your kind support. Your contribution and participation will be a great contribution to the success of the IWNA 2013.

Yours sincerely,

Prof. Dr. Habil. Dang Mau Chien

Local Chairman of the IWNA 2013

Director of Laboratory for Nanotechnology (LNT), Vietnam National University-HCM
